Day 1 – Negombo

It is with a warm welcome that we’ll pick you up at the airport to take you to a hotel in Negombo so that you can enjoy some relaxation after your long journey.  Be assured that the journey from the airport to Negombo is short and pleasant.

Negombo ([ˈmiːɡamuʋə]😉 is one of the major tourist destinations in Sri Lanka. Located on the West coast of the island, encircling the Negombo lagoon, Negombo is the fourth largest city in the country after the capital Colombo, Kandy, and Jaffna.

Negombo is an ideal tourist destination, especially for those who seek a quick getaway from the busy humdrum of the country’s international airport after a long tour.  Set at the backdrop of a fishing community and the lagoon, it’s beautifully crafted luxurious tourist hotels are ready to take care of you. 

Negombo is blessed with some of the beautiful beaches on the west coast of Sri Lanka.

Day2 – Anuradhapura & Dambulla

Your second destination will be the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura will be a totally different experience from Negombo and we will leave Negombo after breakfast.

Anuradhapura is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of North Central Province, Sri Lanka and the capital of Anuradhapura District. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization

The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies 205 km north of the current capital Colombo in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, on the banks of the historic MalvathuOya. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.

The ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world, is today surrounded by monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles (40 km²).

In the evening of the second day we will set off to Dambulla, the beautiful and ancien trock temple.

 

 

Dambulla is situated in the Matale Districtin the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Dambulla is famous for its ancient, well preserved cave temple complex Dambulla Viharahaya.Thearea also boastsof the largest rosequartz mountain range in South Asia, and the Ironwood forest, or Na Uyana Aranya.

Day 3 – Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa

Third day you will be in one of the very special places in the country. Itis noother than Sigirya.

 

Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. It is the most visited historic site in Sri Lanka.

 

Sigirya (Lion Rock,  pronounced see-gee-REE-yah) is located in the central Matale District of the Central Province, Sri Lanka in an area dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 meters high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Culavamsa, the site was selected by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 AD) for his new capital. He built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of this place is derived from this structure —Sīhāgiri, the Lion Rock.

The next attraction is the historical Polonnaruwa

 

Polonnaruwa, the main town of Polonnaruwa District is in the North Central Province, SriLanka. Polonnaruwa, was one of the royal ancient cities of Polonnaru kingdom.

 

The second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first declared the capital city by King Vijayabahu I, who defeated the Chola invaders in 1070 to reunite the country once more under a local leader. The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage Site.

Day 4  – Kandy

Kandy [mahaˈnuʋərə] is one of the most beautiful cities, located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is the second-largest city in the country after Colombo. It was the last capital of the ancient king’s era of Sri Lanka. The city is situated in one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka; Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most venerable places for the Buddhist community of Sri Lanka and all around the world. It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.

Day 3 – Nuwara Eliya

On the third day you will be in one of the special places in the country with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is no other than Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya ([nuːrɛliːjə]) is a city, in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name of the city meaning is “city of light”. The city is the administrative capital of the Nuwara Eliya District. It is located at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft.) and is considered to be the most important location for Tea production in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful tea plantations and flower gardens, flora, and fauna unique to Nuwara Eliya the city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka.

Due to its highland location, Nuwara Eliya has a subtropical highland climate, with a mean annual temperature of 16 °C (61 °F) and therefore is considered the land of flowers which are unique to the climate.

In the winter months, it is quite cold at night, and there can even be frost. However, it rapidly warms up as the tropical sun climbs higher during the day.
